Good Chance Popiah is a traditional popiah restaurant located at BLK 149 Silat Avenue #01-58 Singapore 160149.
The restaurant was opened by Mr Hou Shen Hu in ‘1977. He established Good Chance Popiah Eating House based on his family’s traditional recipe passed down from Xia Men, Fu Jian.
To maintain the consistency and originality of the Hou family’s traditional taste, the running of the restaurant was kept within the family. Currently helming the restaurant is the grandson of Mr Hou, Ah Boy. Popiah (Spring Roll) is a traditional Singapore snack originally created by the Fujian (Hokkien) immigrants.
The dish consists of sauces, several vegetables and small amounts of meat stuffed into a thin popiah skin. The end product looks like a wrap.
It is commonly sold via small hawker stalls in Singapore so it is a rarity to find restaurants specializing in this dish. Hence, Good Chance Popiah is well received by locals and tourists. It becomes especially fun and interesting when this restaurant allows the patron to hand wrap his/her own popiah.
As befitting a Chinese family restaurant, Good Chance Popiah not only serves popiah but a variety other Chinese delights so it’s a place suitable for a family meal or for entertaining of overseas guests.
